6) We will have one more day of building tomorrow so be sure to bring the insulating materials you have planned for in your blueprint.
Here is a glimpse of our Science at Work - it was a messy process but the questions and conversations were very interesting.
"Will more air in my container make the water freeze?"
"What if I build stilts for my insulator so it can be off the cold ground?"
"Does the temperature my water starts at matter? Can I boil the water first?"
"If we bury the insulator, the snow will act as an insulator too!"
"What happens if we cut open a thermos? Let's use what's inside there. Or inside a Hot Paw!"
"Can we put salt inside the water?"

Water Experiment Materials
So .... How are you going to keep your the water in your container from freezing?
Don't forget to bring your container with a lid that can hold 250mL of water!Don't forget to gather the insulating materials you will use to build your system to keep the water from freezing. Remember... your whole system can not be larger than a shoebox.

Hot Chocolate Friday
Agenda:
1) It looks like the weather is getting colder over the next week. Please come to school prepared for these cooler temperatures even though we will be having some Blue Days. Ensure you have your indoor shoes back at school after the break!
2) Healthy hunger is on Jan. 16th
3) Treat Day is on Jan. 21
4) Sign and return your Social Studies test
5) Water Cycles are Due Monday
5) Math Homework - Mixed number to Improper Fraction sheet is due Monday
6) Problem Solving - Digital Clock Problem is due next Wednesday
We learned that meteorology is an unpredictable science.
We wonder about the accuracy of predicting temperatures.
The temperatures change quickly so that makes it very hard to be accurate.
The mountains to the West impact our temperatures here - we get Chinooks which equal the warmer weather AND when we get the cold weather from the North the mountains 'hold' it in over Calgary.
