What's Happening in Math -
We are currently working on the Shape and Space unit. We have been working with 2D and 3D shapes and naming lines and angles. We are moving into types of quadrilaterals and triangles. Our IMJ allows us to visualize these different concepts and will provide us with our own Personal Math Dictionary when we are all done!
What did you learn today?
We learned that the interior angles of a triangle always add up to 180 degrees.
How did you show what you learned?
We drew the angles on a triangle and labelled them A, B and C. Then we cut off the corners (angles) of the triangle and then we put them together to show 180 degrees - a straight angle!!! WHOA - math magic!!!
What do you need to learn next?
We can't wait to show our families this Math Magic! Also, some of us what to use this same idea and prove that the angles in a square or rectangle will add up to 360 degrees. Wait - could this be true for ALL quadrilaterals??? Hmmmmmm
