Almost the end....

Agenda:
1) Tomorrow is our Grade 6 Farewell - it is at 2pm and there is a party for the grade 6s and their families after to follow.
Grade 6s can change into their farewell outfits over the lunch hour.
Some grade 5 students will be helping with the Farewell tomorrow - please dress appropriately for the occasion.

2) Thursday is our last day of classes - report cards will be handed out that day.
Please bring a plastic bag to bring home items from school if your backpack isn't large enough.

3) We will have a class party on Thursday. More details about this to follow tomorrow.

Continuing to Learn More...

Agenda:
1)Tomorrow is our LAST PAT - Science - Get lots of rest and be excited to show all that you know!!!
Please complete an Exam bank to brush up on your skills tonight. Also use the Review Sheet I provided you yesterday.  I will collect these booklets on Friday morning. 
Ensure you have a great night's rest, we have learned it does help. 
2) Tomorrow is Fresh Air Friday please come dressed for the weather.

The year is coming to a close...

We realized the year is coming to an end and we all have mixed feelings about this. Some are excited, some are nervous and some are BOTH!
How did you show what you learned?
We are having lots of conversations about the next few weeks. We are making sure to still make great choices as Dr. Coffin Students and leaders of the school.

We have the Grade 6 Farewell next Wednesday and our class party next Thursday.

While the grade 6s are writing PATs the grade 5s are working on Poetry. Today we did a lot of work on Limericks. Ayer fun to write and read.

We created various poems to include in our Poetry Anthology for the end of the year. 
What do you need to learn next?
We have a few more poems to write and create a book of all that we have written.

Learning Intention
What did you learn today?
We visited the Solar BioCells labs today. We were able to see the experiments that are looking at using algae to create bio-fuel, sugars and plastics.  
How did you show what you learned?
We visited a variety of labs. We saw the process of how they created the outcome they wanted. We saw how tube worms are being used to look at digestion of bacteria. We toured the building and saw how university classes can look. We were able to tour the roof and see various experiments involving the algae. 
What do you need to learn next?
We have been offered the opportunity to work with the scientists and the lab next year for science fair. Also, we wonder how we can work with them again next year for our classroom work.

Learning Intentions
What did you learn today?
We learned about how Iroquois people made decisions
We learned about different games, specifically lacrosse. We played sacred bowl. It had a basket with 6 rocks. One side of the rock was pink and the other side was white. 
We made clan badges. We learned about each clan and determined which clan best represented us. 
We looked at different artifacts that archeologists had found. We tried to figure out what they were for and how they were important to the Iroquois people. 
How did you show what you learned?
We worked at 4 different stations. This was mostly hands on work. 
What do you need to learn next?
We need to finish our Iroquois study and begin review for the PATs.
