Secret Santa Day 2

Agenda:
Day 3 of Secret Santa is tomorrow - Please make sure you come with your third gift and final clue first thing tomorrow morning. 

1) Reading each night - Raz Kids if you have it
2) News Article will be due by Thursday 
3) Water Cycles are due tomorrow
4) Tomorrow is Polar Express Day - wear your Jammies or ugly sweater

Don't Forget Thursday is Early Dismissal - school is over at 12:00

Grade 6 parents make sure to check when the Branton Open House is. They will be visiting our School in January to talk to all Grade 6 students about what their Jr. High has to offer but you will also want to check out their open house.

What did you learn today?
We learned that the Jungle Book book and the movie had a lot of differences.
How did you show what you learned?
We made a Venn Diagram of the differences and similarities between the movie and the book. 
What do you need to learn next?
We need to finish the rest of the movie tomorrow.

Caroling and Secret Santa Day 1

3) Get your social projects signed and returned. 

4) Dress like an Elf tomorrow (wear red, green or white), Thursday is Polar Express Day - wear your Jammies or ugly sweater

5) Please have your Ordering and Comparing and Division Quizzes signed and returned by Wednesday

We were able o watch our person open their gift without them knowing who we are.

We will do it again tomorrow and everyone needs to remember to include the person's name and a hint!

What did you learn today?
We learned how great it feels when you GIVE. 
How did you show what you learned?
We spent our morning filling all the socks with the various donated items. We filled 71 socks!!! This afternoon someone from the Drop In Center came to pick up all of our socks and other donated items. He answered lots of our questions and explained how the socks would be delivered on Christmas morning.
What do you need to learn next?
We need to go and let the other classes know that we donated enough items to fill 71 socks!

We had the opportunity to have a new experience as a class - skating at the outdoor rink or getting to play sports at a different site.
How did you show what you learned?
Some of us skated and others played soccer, basketball or on the playground.
What do you need to learn next?
We would lie to do this field trip again in the new year!

4) Jungle Book permission letter - Due Monday 

5) We will be going to the community rink tomorrow - find your helmet - it MUST Be a skating helmet (CSA approved) and skates (no Sticks or pucks ). We will need a few volunteers so check with your parents - they don't have to skate. If you aren't skating, you will still be coming with us and participating in other Phys. Ed activities. 

6) Get your social projects signed and returned. 

7) Don't forget to purchase your Secret Santa items before Tuesday.

We learned about different genres and titles of books that we would like to read. 
How did you show what you learned?
We listened to (almost) everyone's novel recommendations. We took notes on which books we thought looked interesting. 
What do you need to learn next?
We need to keep on reading and we will do a second novel recommendation in the spring.

We are learning about shapes, angles and symmetry through our Quick Draw and Quick Build.

We learned about different types of clouds - check out Twitter to see a picture of us working. 
How did you show what you learned?
We used charcoal to draw the different clouds we could see and that we know about. 
What do you need to learn next?
We need to be more familiar with the different types and we want to be able to identify them without looking at our sheet.
