We spent our morning filling all the socks with the various donated items. We filled 71 socks!!! This afternoon someone from the Drop In Center came to pick up all of our socks and other donated items. He answered lots of our questions and explained how the socks would be delivered on Christmas morning.
What do you need to learn next?
We need to go and let the other classes know that we donated enough items to fill 71 socks!

What did you learn today?
We are learning different skills in our new gym unit - basketball.
How did you show what you learned?
We did various drills: ladders, dribbling, passing, shooting and layups.
What do you need to learn next?
We want to continue this unit and practice our basketball skills.

We learned a watercolor technique in art today to create our Book Poster.
How did you show what you learned?
We used different colors (warm or cold) to paint a posted for our enhanced story.
What do you need to learn next?
We need to finish our art piece by adding an illustration that matches our story and our new title.

We did a problem from Josh's Mensa book. We needed to use the number alphabet (like the one on your phone) to solve word problems.
What do you need to learn next?
We would like to try another Mensa problem. Maybe a maze!

From our assembly today, we learned how to show calmness and respect during an important event.
How did you show what you learned?
We helped our school mates by modeling sitting still and not talking during the performances or dancing when the trumpet played.
We respectfully listened to other classes.
We dressed for the occasion.
We performed our piece with enthusiasm and jubilant expression.
We set an example and tone for the rest of the school to follow.
What do you need to learn next?
We need to continue to be excellent examples and leaders to the students at our school.

1) Remembrance Day Assembly is tomorrow at 10:45 - Please dress white on top and black on the bottom. If this isn't possible please dress nicely for the assembly.
2) We will begin collecting food for the Veterans' food bank as well as small donations for the Veterans' Poppy Fund continuing until next Wednesday - thank you all very much!

How did you show what you learned?
We used a study strategy called Split Page Notes. We used our knowledge to share what we understand about wetlands. The test felt short and easier than expected.
What do you need to learn next?
We will move into our weather unit next. We will be building tools to measure the weather, we will continue to track the weather and we will research various weather phenomenon!

Hula, Hula Hoop tricks

We did a new POW which we handed in after 45 minutes.
How did you show what you learned?
It was about a girl who walks 2 dogs a day and receives 8$ a dog throughout the month of November. For 24 days she donated her earnings. We needed to use multiple steps to struggle through this word problem.
We needed to use a highlighter for the important information.
What do you need to learn next?
We will continue working on word problems.
