PAT Excitement

Agenda:
1 - Tomorrow is our Part A Language Arts PAT for our grade 6s. Get a good night's rest and be excited to show all that you have learned on your story and your news article. 
2 - Grade 6 options forms are due Friday
3 - We need your name tags back from Outdoor School.
4 - Please Bring your Green Passport from Outdoor School.
5 - Possessive nouns sheet is due tomorrow. 

Plant sale is next Friday, May 12 at 10:45 AM. Kindergarten families will be given an opportunity to buy our plants prior to other Dr. Coffin families. We're planning on setting up for our plant sale in the Kindergarten classroom. We will have tomato, cucumber,  zucchini, peppers, basil, and cilantro for sale. Prices will range from 2 to 15 dollars, CASH ONLY will be accepted. The proceeds from our sale will be used by the Kindergarten students (which we will vote on) and for funding our L.G.T. program.

We completed a new interactive math journal page about integers. 
How did you show what you learned?
We learned integers are whole numbers that are positive or negative. 
What do you need to learn next?
We need to apply this to some real world situations like temperature, golf, money and elevations.

From the Base of Lookout Mountain Day 3

Hope you're ready to learn some camp songs tomorrow night at the supper table... 

TOAST, Little Red Wagon, And Why Not You..., Days of the Week are just a few of our favorites. 

We have had a great last full day here at camp. The weather has been better than expected and the kids are enjoying being out in the mountains watching for signs of spring like all the new Prairie Crocuses popping up each day. 

All the snow at camp is gone and as you can tell from the pictures below, today was a warm day. Kids drank lots of water and enjoyed finding spots in the shade. 

The last night is always hard - they are excited to come home but will be sad to leave camp. They have learned and grown so much over the last week. Memories for a lifetime!

A Busy First Day at Outdoor School. 

Students participated in various activities including Predator/Prey, Drumming/Drama, team building games and building their knowledge of Trees and Forests. 

The pictures below will give you a glimpse into the daily life at camp. Students will again be ready for a good night's rest, most likely early than last night :-)

These are the core values of the YMCA Camp Chief Hector and our students are doing a wonderful job displaying all of these during their first day here at Outdoor School. 

We have begun to explore the area around camp and settle in to our bunks. 

The weather has been good so far ... it is dry, sunny and warm. Everyone is well prepared with lots of layers and great footwear. 

Here are a few initial glimpses of our life at camp.

Prep for Outdoor School - Please READ!!!

You must bring a backpack. You need to pack a small pencil case with a couple of pencils, a few pencil crayons, an eraser and a sharpener. Also, you MUST have a water bottle.

Medications: any medication you are bringing from home must be placed in a labelled ziplock bag and instructions for how to administer and given to Mr. P tomorrow morning.

Don't forget your book for down times. Card games are great too.

No Digital Devices - cameras are great though.

Tuesday
- Luggage and bedding (pillow, sheet, sleeping bag) - it can be dropped off as early as 8:30 am tomorrow. You must be able to carry your bags all by yourself. Also, remember to label everything. There will be another school out there also, so we want to make sure we know what stuff is ours.
- Bus will leave by 9:30
- Lunch will be served shortly after our arrival.
- Clothing  - we realize the weather is looking great for the week! However, we still suggest packing clothing and footwear for rain, snow and sun. We are outside all day and into the evening... you don't want to cold or wet!!!! We also need to ensure we have hats and sunscreen.

Wednesday/Thursday - at camp :-)

Friday
- We leave Outdoor School after an early lunch on Friday.
- A parent or guardian or Millennium Kids is here to pick you up by 1:30 - 2:00 pm


****If you are not coming to camp, it is expected that you come to School and please join Ms. Cowdy and Miss Jones and have a great week. Don't forget, we are excited to see all your work on Monday.*****
