Learning Intention
What did you learn today?
We had an amazing and informative visit with Dr. Fry today. Dr. Fry talked about what we found on the base of the Aspen Poplar trees. We learned it was a type of mite but we aren't sure yet about the exact type or if it is harmful to the trees.
How did you show what you learned?
We listened to him in the classroom first, we got to ask a few questions and then we went to Whispering Woods to look at the actual eggs on the trees. He used a microscope attached to his cell phone to show us images of the eggs.
What do you need to learn next?
We have to find out what kind of mite it is and figure out what we need to do about it. Alex Coker from the City of Calgary will come on Monday to view the eggs with us and give us a perspective from the city.
